We have been running projects and training project staff for many years, both within DevelopMental and in our past roles. Due to privacy constraints, we are not at liberty to share many of these projects with you, however we can provide information on the following internal projects which you may find valuable:
Queensland Government - Strategic Investment Fund
This was a very exciting project, run in conjunction with Gretchen Operations, it commenced in January 2012 and was finalised in 2014. The key goal was to provide opportunities for 200 Trade qualified Queenslanders to become qualified in a Nationally Recognised Certificate IV in Project Management. A skills shortage in this area had been identified by the Government and this project was designed specifically to reduce this gap.
The project was highly successful with courses being run both online and across Queensland, including courses in Cairns, Mackay, Bundaberg, Gladstone, Townsville, Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Ipswich and Brisbane. We had outstanding support from regional newspapers that ran many success stories on our graduates.
The project KPIs were set high by the Queensland Government, with all KPIs met and many exceeded. All elements of this were planned and reviewed through our internal project systems (including snapshot reporting) and the use of Microsoft Project software. Many of the graduates also had the opportunity to complete the Diploma of Project Management, utilising their Certificate IV as prior learning towards the Diploma course.
Australian Flexible Learning Framework - Diploma of Project Management RPL
This project was undertaken from 2009 to 2010. It was an excellent opportunity to develop an online Recognition of Prior Learning tool for all training organisations across Australia to add to their suite of RPL tools.
We developed a step by step evaluation and portfolio development tool so that people working as Project Managers could achieve RPL from anywhere that they could access the internet. Additionally it enabled them to develop a marketable portfolio that they could use for future employment opportunities.
We achieved the project well ahead of schedule and within budget, even though the Brisbane floods affected many of the projects due for delivery in that time period.
Sadly, however, in 2013 the training package was changed and superseded by the Government, meaning that the tool would have to be redeveloped and in its current design, is no longer useable in the industry.
