Upgrade from Certificate IV in PMP to the Diploma of Project Management (BSB51415)

Who should do this course?

This is the workshop training program to upgrade from the Certificate IV in Project Management Practice (BSB41515) to the Diploma of Project Management (BSB51415).  You may be in the process of completing the Certificate IV or have already finished to be eligible to undertake this program.

This course is suitable for people who are involved in the management and coordination of projects in any industry. It develops skills initially learned at the Certificate IV level and supports the move from work within a project to the running of a project. Virtually all industries can benefit greatly from having a strong understanding of how to practically implement a project.

How is it trained?

We offer this course through our Workshop Program. The entire course can take up to 12 months, however is usually completed within 4 months from the end of the workshop.

We deliver the program over a 2 day workshop. In class activities are observed for skills assessment by the trainer/assessor. There are also group and individual submissions required over the entire period of the program as part of the assessment portfolio. A submission date will be determined with each individual participant or group dependent on the project selected. It may take months or even a year to be completed depending on the project size and organisational needs.

What is covered in the course?

This course has 12 units of competency, 8 are core units and 4 are electives. We have preselected the following units as they provide a thorough understanding and highly useful project management and team leadership skills:

How is it assessed?

Assessment is undertaken in 3 stages throughout the program. Project performance and other evaluation is done while participants are undertaking their 2 day workshop and written question responses and project work is required in the weeks following. Only the gaps between teh Certificate IV in PMP program and the Diploma level course are evaluated.

Assessment is marked within 2 working weeks of submission and a detailed report is emailed to the participant giving feedback on the submission. Students may not achieve competency upon their initial submission. If this is the case, their trainer/assessor will provide feedback on what needs to be addressed. It is highly recommended that the participant reads through their notes and materials prior to resubmitting their work. Each student has a maximum of 2 resubmission attempts to achieve competency.
