Diploma of Project Management (BSB51415)
Who should do this course?
This course is suitable for people who are involved in the management and coordination of projects in any industry. It develops skills initially learned at the Certificate IV level and supports the move from work within a project to the running of a project. You do NOT have to have Certificate IV to undertake this program. We have had a range of people undertake this course including on-site supervisors, teachers, administration staff, managers, regional and local council staff and trainers. Virtually all industries can benefit greatly from having a strong understanding of how to practically implement a project.
How is it trained?
We offer this course through our Workshop Program. The entire course can take from 4 months for experienced PMs who already have most of the skills, to over a year for those who are learning many of the skills for the first time. We deliver the program over 3 sets of 2 day workshops, with 4 to 6 weeks gap between each workshop to allow for project and assessment work and skill development to be completed. In class activities are observed for skills assessment by the trainer/assessor. There are also group and individual submissions required over the entire period of the program as part of the assessment portfolio. The project component is group based and includes self-paced components. A submission date will be determined with each individual participant or group dependent on the project selected. It may take months or even a year to be completed depending on the project size and organisational needs.
What is covered in the course?

How is it assessed?
Assessment is undertaken in 4 stages throughout the program. Project performance and other evaluation is done while participants are undertaking their 3 sets of workshops and in the weeks following. This includes project work and theory questions. Students are usually given up to 2 - 6 months from the end of the workshop to finalise and submit the in-class work and their individual submissions, either in hard copy or electronically.
Assessment is marked within 2 working weeks of submission and a detailed report is emailed to the participant giving feedback on the submission. Students may not achieve competency upon their initial submission. If this is the case, their trainer/assessor will provide feedback on what needs to be addressed. It is highly recommended that the participant reads through their notes and materials prior to resubmitting their work. Each student has a maximum of 2 resubmission attempts to achieve competency.
