Who should do this course?

This course is suitable for people who are involved in the management and coordination of business activities. People with the job roles of executive officer, program consultants, program co-ordinators, mid-level managers and team leaders or similar, would benefit from this program.

You do NOT have to have Certificate IV to undertake this program. You should have business experience with sound theoretical business skills and knowledge from recent work activity.

How is it trained?

We offer this course through our Workshop Program. The entire course can take from 6 months for experienced business people who already have many business skills, to over a year for those who are learning many of the skills for the first time. We deliver the program over 4 sets of 2 day workshops, with 6 to 8 week gaps between each workshop to allow for practical and assessment work and skill development to be completed.

In class activities are observed for skill performance assessment by the trainer/assessor. There are also group and individual submissions required over the entire period of the program as part of the assessment portfolio. A range of submission dates will be determined with each individual participant or group dependent on the activities and units selected. It may take months or even a year to be completed depending on the organisational needs.

What is covered in the course?

This course has 8 units of competency, 6 are selected from a small range of predetermined units and 2 are electives. We have preselected the following units as they provide a thorough understanding and highly useful business, frontline and team leadership skills:

How is it assessed?

Assessment is undertaken in 4 stages throughout the program. Skill performance and other evaluation is done while participants are undertaking their 4 sets of workshops and in the weeks following. This includes project work and theory questions. Students are usually given up to 2 - 6 months from the end of the workshop to finalise and submit the in-class work and their individual submissions, either in hard copy or electronically.

Assessment is marked within 2 working weeks of submission and a detailed report is emailed to the participant giving feedback on the submission. Students may not achieve competency upon their initial submission. If this is the case, their trainer/assessor will provide feedback on what needs to be addressed. It is highly recommended that the participant reads through their notes and materials prior to resubmitting their work. Each student has a maximum of 2 resubmission attempts to achieve competency.
